She was born with plenty
And nowhere to put it
From the womb to the first room
She couldn't set it down
She was witness to siblings
Who also refused it
Gift-wrapped and gilded
Declined with no grounds
They'd come in, they'd go out
They'd stay long
They'd flash bright
Pick it up, admire a while
No buyers in sight
Priest cashes the check
After the ceremony is done
Still, no one wanted it
A gift still undone
A wave of hope rises
But tides eventually subside
This gift she was born with
No one wanted to subscribe
On this playing field we train
Every teammate alone
No market is cornered
Of not having a home
She still has her plenty
A stockroom so full
A reverse emulsion
Of what seems the rule
A world full of people
With limits of supply
Only so much to give
Self interest runs high
She walks alone
With endless reserves
Nowhere to put it
Nowhere on this earth

As I was reading the 15th assenine and whiny post on the message board about how "no one is going to make me pledge allegiance to a flag" blah blah (reaction to the recent court ruling), I just kept getting madder and madder. I understand the taking God out. You can't force people in a state supported school to profess God as the ruler of their country (although I believe He/She is responsible for American prosperity, but I digress...)
I couldn't believe this one post from a person who got all self-righteous about taking the pledge out of schools, whether it mentions God or not.
I had the "Rush Limbaugh Response", where I want to keep listening to some spewing dribble so I can REFUTE it, but it becomes like chewing on tinfoil and I just can't bear to listen any more!
I did write a response. I expect to get reamed for it. But I've had it with spoiled, coddled people who can legislate it illegal for one viewpoint to be expressed, but it still be OK that THEIR viewpoint be expressed. So much for free speech!
A proposal to replace the unconstitutional pledge of allegiance:
Here's the new pledge to fit the mentality of modern America (although I doubt modern America would have the attention span to read it):
You pledge allegiance
To Yourself
And the pursuit of the allmighty dollar
And the fulfillment of your every whim
As you ignore the rights of everyone else around you
What you say is right
What I believe is wrong
And you enjoy getting offended at every little opinion that differs from yours
So you will take everyone else to court to be sure their opinion is banished from your consciousness and all of American culture, leaving only YOUR narrow viewpoint to survive and influence.
We are one Nation
Full of self-righteous snobs
Spoiled by our freedom
Willing to take it for granted
And how dare anyone give you the opportunity to reflect upon your good fortune, let alone feel grateful for it.
For a pledge of love and pride
To flag or country
Is "brainwashing" our children
How dare anyone brainwash them about such frivilous things as allegiance to their homeland!
In school they can talk about any subject, from sex and science, math and mating (in all it's forms)
But let's make it UNCONSTITUTIONAL to talk about loving their country and the flag that represents their country!
That is where free speech stops!
So as you stand
In a school paid for by the citizens of the country called America
Enjoying her freedoms
Thanks to countless others before us who gave their lives to make it so
You have the BALLS to throw a hissy fit
And act all superior
and say "what kind of idiot pledges love of a flag?"
To you I say this:
Because of the liberty and the justice for all
that is my birthright as an American
I will pledge my allegiance to my flag, to my country, and yes
Even have the audacity to pause for 20 seconds a day to pledge that allegiance
And reflect upon those who gave their lives for my flag and my country
And if you don't like it,
If you're too good for it, too intellectual for it,
you can blow it out your pompous, self-righteous,
pseudo-intellectual, hypocritical, why-don't-you-go-rot-in-hell ASS.
(And you can take your snot nosed brat out of the school paid for
by the country whose flag you refuse to pledge allegiance to. I don't want my tax dollars going toward your spawn anyway.
And you can get the f*ck to another country. But you'll have to go a ways; I don't think Canada wants you either.)
